Allison Pike Creates Islington Pub Lounge & Garden…

There is a new destination on Upper Street Islington: Allison Pike have just re-designed the Vineyard for Barracuda Group. After a quick but effective refurbishment the pub has a new stylish and fun atmosphere. Contemporary and edgy décor are used in various spaces divided up by the use of subtle frames and arches. Earthy natural materials expressing the history of the building are contrasted against modern fixtures and shiny fabrics.

Inspiration is drawn from the present day with contemporary details in screens, furniture, padded wall panels and bar front. 1940´s pin ups sit next to a circular 1970´s booth with city skyline behind, while a Rubik´s cube sits as a table. Retro themed furniture uses fabrics such as Dralon to add to the shabby chic. Comfortable leather fixed seating contrasts with the exposed original brickwork behind.

Overall the feel is vibrant, exciting and yet unpretentious, appealing to a wide customer profile of local Islingtonians, party groups and office workers. Outside is the best garden in the area, also given a contemporary twist with ball chairs, timber decking seating and a new pergola shelter.

Allison Pike sourced all the artwork, furniture and finishes as well as planning out the spatial arrangements and shopfitting details. New signage utilises stripped down open fronted white letters with exposed light bulb illumination. The new offer is summed up with the strapline of "Pub Lounge Garden" used in the bespoke signs.
