Pike have won the prestigious Daily Telegraph/ Homebuilding
and Renovating House of the Year Award for 2002. In the words
of the Telegraph “Sheer Brilliance….. one memorably
beautiful family home outshone all others and won the unanimous
support of the judges”. |

| Modern living
with flexible spaces was at the heart of the design brief. Our
clients wanted a modern ‘low linear’ building in
appearance with light and airy spaces internally. They have
two young children and so consideration of their needs and safety
as well as the adults’ sanity also dictated how the house
was to function. |

| The front
of the plot faces south and so forming an enclosed private south
facing garden generated the L shaped plan which wraps around
the external space and encloses it. The outer elevations to
the L have a simple white external wall with punched slot openings
whereas the internal faces of the L have virtually complete
glass walling at ground level and the distinctive horizontal
glazing strip at first floor. |
