Dock Liverpool – Premier Lodge. |
|

 |

Pike have designed the most distinctive Premier Lodge budget
hotel in the UK in a £3.5 million conversion of a Grade
1 Listed Building located in Liverpool’s world famous
Albert Dock. |
 |
| In an on site
period of just 29 weeks, the five-storey industrial warehouse
was converted into a 130 bedroom Premier Lodge budget hotel
for Scottish and Newcastle Retail. The project included extensive
renovation work, structural alterations and the fitting out
of the bedrooms, reception, restaurant and bar areas. The precontract
design period was longer than the construction phase. The design
integrates the building’s original industrial features
with the requirements of a modern hotel, whilst also creating
relaxing and comfortable surroundings for the hotel’s
guests. |
 |
| The vaulted
brick ceilings, a key feature of the internal character of the
hotel, were cleaned and sealed, to eliminate dust without compromising
the striking appearance of the ceilings. The original iron fire
doors were also retained as features within the communication
corridors of the hotel. |
 |
| Mark Allison
comments: “The retention of the building’s original
features such as the brick ceilings, cast iron structure and
plated doors, have created a modern budget hotel that retains
the character of the warehouse and the surrounding dock buildings.” |
