High Street jewellery chain, HPJ, have selected Allison Pike, Architects and Interior Designers, to undertake a complete redesign of their stores' identity.  The commission involved a complete appraisal and assessment of what customer perception was of a typical HPJ store.  The conclusions included focusing heavily on the merchandise, with that becoming the main focal point and the shopfitting becoming higher quality but more neutral background.

The main aim of the design was to create a coordinated and contemporary look, using a stripped down limited palette of materials in sophisticated modern colours, allowing the products which are displayed on coloured pads to become the most prominent feature.  The use of lighting creates interest and highlights whilst achieving an open and customer-friendly environment.

The Dartford shop (pictured), located in the Priory Shopping Centre was the first site to be refitted and opened at the end of August 2003 and work commenced recently on the eighth new site to be fitted with the new Allison Pike design - this time in Glasgow's Forge Centre. Many of HPJ's units are to be refitted and their estate increased with a number of new stores.
