Planning granted for Conference Facility in the National Park

Following a thorough and detailed pre-application consultation with Peak Park, consent has been obtained for a complete refurbishment and extension of Bennetston Hall near Buxton to form a dedicated conference facility together with 32 bedrooms for our client Chimp Management Limited.

The building is situated in the National Park and has been empty for over 30 years. The Hall will provide a dedicated and bespoke conference facility for Chimp Management Ltd, specialists in training people to manage their minds, with an approach that is grounded in neuroscience.

The Chimp Model was created by psychiatrist Professor Steve Peters and is used to help people to understand how the mind is structured and how it functions.  Chimp Management aims to help people to get the best out of themselves and to improve the quality of their lives bringing increased success and happiness.

The key design aspects of the scheme include:

  • Restoration of the Hall to its original roofline with castellated gables, central atrium and outward facing rooms, and a new extension providing additional bedrooms and ancillary spaces.
  • The creation of a new lozenge shaped conference facility to the north side of the hall with a ‘green roof’ and linked to the main building with a glazed contemporary structure.
  • Restoration of the Coach House to form additional bedrooms linked via a single storey glazed link to the main Hall.
