Grosvenor Estates evolved this development proposal with Whitbread to create a hotel and retail space on this prominent site on Hanover Street Liverpool, part of the overall Liverpool One redevelopment.
The site’s prominence required a striking landmark building with contemporary detailing and the planning Public Art contribution was provided by the angled art glass corner feature which is angled out over the street. At ground level a mix of 7 various sized retail units, together with the hotel entrance were formed, totaling over 30000sq ft.
At upper levels the Premier Inn offers a full restaurant facility together with 183 bedrooms, served by lift access to all levels. The complex steel framed building included fire fighting lifts as well as conventional passenger lifts, dry risers and other fire precautions developed in conjunction with the statutory authorities, together with ground level delivery and servicing strategy.
Faced externally in a precise charcoal coloured facing brick the building makes a strong urban statement and reinforces the street pattern, punctuated by the strong vertical emphasis of the corner feature entrance.
