Planning Permission gained for 194 bedroom Hotel

Predominantly a brick construction on the site of the previously demolished Aspen House office building.

The 194-bed Premier Inn hotel is to be constructed over six floors with the ground floor accommodating the reception and a Bar & Block steakhouse restaurant together with ancillary delivery, service and plant areas.

Allison Pike worked with Swindon Borough Council through a series of meetings and a Design Review Panel to develop the design of the building, such that approval was a formality under delegated powers.Peter Garitsis, Urban Design Officer of Swindon BC stated in his report, “The evolution of this design is the result of a good collaboration between applicant and the LPA.

The architects have been fully responsive to all the issues raised and produced a very strong proposal for this site that I support in urban design terms.”Structural Engineering design is provided by Simpson Associates; M&E design by Thornley & Lumb; PM/QS services by Baqus; Landscaping design by Barry Chinn Associates; Acoustic design by Scotch Partners; and Transport/Highways design consultancy provided by RGP.
